What You Will Do as a Housekeeping Supervisor in Edinburgh
Team Leadership & Scheduling
Supervise, motivate, and schedule a team of room attendants and public area cleaners, ensuring full shift coverage and equitable workload distribution across all hotel floors.
Room Inspections & Quality Control
Conduct rigorous room and public area inspections against 4- or 5-star brand standards, identifying defects and coaching staff on corrective actions in real time.
Inventory & Supplies Management
Control linen, chemical, and amenity stock levels. Place orders, track usage, and minimise waste while ensuring uninterrupted supply to the housekeeping operation at all times.
COSHH & Health & Safety Compliance
Enforce all COSHH regulations, manual handling protocols, and property health and safety policies. Maintain up-to-date chemical risk assessments and conduct regular safety briefings.
Cross-Department Liaison
Liaise with the front desk, maintenance, and F&B departments to prioritise VIP arrivals, manage early check-ins, and coordinate deep-cleaning or maintenance defect reporting efficiently.
Training & Staff Development
Deliver induction training to new room attendants, provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback, and support the Executive Housekeeper in identifying promotion-ready team members.
What You Need to Succeed in This Role
Essential
- ✦ Minimum 1–2 years' housekeeping supervisory experience in a hotel or serviced residence
- ✦ Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a multicultural housekeeping team
- ✦ Sound knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling procedures
- ✦ High attention to detail and a passion for immaculate standards
- ✦ Excellent verbal communication and the ability to write clear shift reports
- ✦ Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required
Desirable
