Frequently Asked Questions (Scaffold Labourer Jobs)
We require a minimum of 6 months of proven experience in a construction labouring role, preferably with exposure to scaffolding operations. Experience handling tubes, fittings, and boards, and working under the supervision of a scaffolder is key. If your background is in general construction, warehouse operative jobs that involve heavy manual handling can also provide relevant transferable skills. The most important factor is a strong work ethic and understanding of site safety.
For a Scaffold Labourer position, a valid CSCS Labourer card (often green) is typically sufficient, as you will be assisting qualified scaffolders rather than erecting structures independently. The qualified scaffolders on site will hold specific scaffolding cards (e.g., CISRS). Your card must be in date and physically present on site. If you need to renew or apply for a CSCS card, we can often point you towards approved test centres in the Birmingham area.
Shifts generally follow standard construction hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30/8:00 AM starts, finishing around 4:30/5:00 PM. Some projects may offer early starts or weekend work at enhanced rates. Overtime is frequently available. We also cater to those seeking flexible or part-time arrangements – just discuss your availability with your consultant. For other flexible roles, explore our weekend jobs in London or temp jobs in London.
The NEC site is exceptionally well-connected. Birmingham International railway station is adjacent to the NEC, with direct trains from Birmingham New Street and across the region. Multiple bus services also serve the area. For drivers, there is usually ample contractor parking available on or near the site, though charges may apply. Your specific site induction will provide detailed travel and parking instructions.
There is a strong potential for temp-to-perm conversion for reliable, hard-working labourers. Many of our clients use temporary assignments as an extended working interview. Demonstrating a strong work ethic, punctuality, safety consciousness, and a good attitude significantly increases your chances of being offered a direct, permanent position with the client or long-term ongoing work through us. We have a proven track record of placing candidates into permanent roles across sectors, much like we do for warehouse jobs in Birmingham and recruitment jobs in London.
