Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
- Team Leadership & Performance: Directly supervise a team of 10-15 warehouse staff, including delegating tasks, conducting briefings, monitoring attendance, and providing on-the-job coaching to improve efficiency and safety.
- Operational Workflow Management: Plan and coordinate daily workloads to meet picking, packing, and dispatch targets. Ensure all orders are processed accurately and on schedule, minimising errors and delays.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to all Health & Safety regulations, warehouse safety protocols, and company policies. Conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and ensure all staff, especially forklift drivers, are operating equipment correctly and hold valid certifications.
- Stock Control & Inventory Accuracy: Oversee cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the Warehouse Management System (WMS) is updated accurately. Maintain high levels of inventory integrity.
- Quality Control & Reporting: Monitor the quality of work from the team, address any issues with damaged goods or incorrect orders, and compile end-of-shift reports on productivity, incidents, and achievements for senior management.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Act as the first point of contact for operational issues on the shift. Liaise effectively with other departments such as transport, customer service, and the warehouse manager to resolve problems swiftly.
Essential Skills & Experience Required
Must-Have Qualifications
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a Warehouse Supervisor or Team Leader role.
- In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, safety management, and inventory control.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Valid forklift instructor or assessor qualification (desirable but not essential).
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification in Health & Safety.
- Full UK driving license and own transport (due to location and potential shift times).
